need some with door handle

My friend has a camry 96 le, and he broke off his door handle on the right passenger side of his car. Some mechanic said it would cost $140 to replace it, but does it seriously cost that much? I was wondering if maybe we could do it ourselves, and what do we need besides a new door handle?

buy that, paint it with some touch up spray paint... put it in! its not too hard, you just gotta know how to take the door interior off. ive done it (changed the door handle)

Yeah it isnt that diffucult. Unbolt and unscrew all of the pieces holding the interior door to the exterior and replace your handle. 140 dollars is ridiculous!

I got my outer door handle at a toyota dealer. I think it was around $50. It was also painted!!! Takes about 1 hour to install. Good luck.

2 screws on the left, 2 on the outside, 2 on the bottom, 2 on the arm rest, 1 in the magazine holder, take off the handle bezel and pop the door off... you need a phillips and a regular screwdriver, then once you get inside you will need just a 10 or 12 i forget which to get the outer handle off... 10mm i think... you have to then get the metal rods detached from the handle with either the flathead or some pliars, slide the plastic piece that holds the rod in to the side... then the thing SHOULD come out... i might be forgetting something here... but it should come off then i think.

GOOD LUCK!
