Question (Possible) Problem with sunroof

The sunroof opens just fine but when it comes time to close it, it goes about halfway and stops. I have to repress and hold the button to close it. I haven't noticed and weird noises or water laeks when it rains. Is this normal or is it broke?

Also, this is my first car with a sunroof. Any tips for maintnence and anything I should look for?

What year vehicle are you having a problem with? Generation 5?
If so, everytime the battery is disconnected or there is a power disruption, the power sunroof has to be reset or zeroed.

To reset, open the roof all the way, then press the button to close but do not release the button. The roof will close then tilt open and stop completely. The roof has been reset.

Normal.

That was an old safety feature so that no one would crank the sunroof shut in one go trapping heads, arms or whatever. It will stop halfway and you have to release and press the button again. I remember when i drove my buddy's brand new Levin way back when, I thought I busted it. It had two buttons to push. Pain in the ass.

So when I picked up my current 93 and this happened, mildly amused but did not panic. Its all good.

I wonder if there is a way to remove this annoying feature.

Care for sunroof would be to make sure drains are never blocked.
Make sure NO rust has started or to fix any rust spots you have immediately. It goes through fast in that area. Wax the paint in there when you are doing the car. Don't mess the rubber up.

Its a '93 LE. I noticed it from day one but wasn't really concerned. It's more annoying than anything really. So does anyone know of a hack to stop (or not make it stop) this?
