Headlight Swap JDM into 99 Camry

Hi... outta curiousity what precisely do I need to make a headlight swap, from JDM headlights into a 99 Camry and are there any links that would provide DIY instructions? Because I believe you need to take off the bumper... Only the headlamps not side corner ones... and what materials might I need... Thanks in Advance

those crystal clear gracia headlamps cost a pretty penny for sure...i hope to get a pair someday soon, but i also would like to see pics if you have them nova insomniac.

they should be direct bolt-ons, no need to remove a bumper...only prob i can see on them is beam pattern would be for a RHD car so may point weird

later,
Keri

I "think" I still have the email from the guy who quoted me a price, give me a few minutes. But I know for sure it was $450 USD a pair shipped from Japan.

Yes, the "JDM" lights will be aimed incorrectly for LHD applications.... but if you don't mind blinding people they sure do look cool.

You just undo 3 bolts and the headlight housing comes out for replacement.

HUH?

Ok ok... perhaps they are not JDM, the problem is that the headlights for example take a 2000 camry's headlights and you're trying to fit them into a 99 camry, I need to find where to get the plug in the back because when the headlights were purchased, it didn't come with them... because 99 camry's only had 2 bulbs one on each side... when I got the other headlights there are a total for 4 bulbs... therefore I need to find out where I can pick up the plugs in the back so I can splice the two wires to allow for 4 bulbs rather than 2... and it's not as simple as removing the 3 bolts because it won't fit in... so the task at hand is to remove the bumper because it won't fit unless you take off the bumper first then put the headlight in then put the bumper back on... I need some DIY's for that are there any around? And where could I find plugs so I can splice the wires into them...??

Ahh, you bought one of those aftermarket headlamps for a 2000 Camry.

Well I have news, it will be tough trying to fit those in a 99. But in case you make them fit......you will need to buy some 9006 (low beam) and 9005 (high beam) connectors......Pep Boys sales them in their prestigious APC Section.

Your current headlamp has a 3 prong connector......find out which one is ground and low beam, then connect those to the 9006 connector......then connect the high beam to the 9005 connector, as far as ground goes, you can tap that onto an unpainted part of the chassis.

nova_insomniac: to make the 2000-2001 yr lights flush like they fit you would need to change the right&left fenders, frotn two corner lamps and the front bumpercover. Depending if there is a nice junkk yard by your place...your easily looking to dish out close to 70 for both fenders, 20 for corner lights and 45 for the front bumber. Good luck! Wherein you make your gen 4 front end look like gen 4.5!
