Question gauge light question?

I went to install my el glow gauges and went to splice the wire that powers the gauges when the light come on. I changed my mind on the location of the wire and now the lights on the stock gauge won't light. As long as i didn't completel cut threw the wire the would still light up right? If that is right could it be a fuse?
I am going to use the 12v where the dimmer is an just not plug the dimmer back in wish i thought of that 1st.

make sure your cut still isn't exposed and touching (or grounding ) it's self to any of the metal braces behind the gauges.

if it is exposed should i put electrical tape around it. Then would my stock lights in the gauges work again?

you have to have the dimmer plugged in or the other lights wont work anyways.,.. it completes the circuit. you need to tap off of one of the wires on the dimmer switch., but leave the dimmer switch in there.

Thank you Zoni_Camry. I relized that last night..lol What i did was plug the power wire into the dimer by placing it in one of the 2 slots that get power when the headlights come on an then pluged the dimmer back in. waaallaaa didn't need 2 splice anything. I really don't care if the gauges don't dim the lights still dim but i won't really ever dim them they are red leds so they arn't to bright. Thank you all 4 the help!

good way to do it if they ever fail you, you will know that the wire fell out... cause it might.
