hey, does anyone happen to know which wire is for the reverse lights coming out of the fuse box? cuz i had an idea for combatting tailgaters. i want to wire a relay and a momentary switch to flash the reverse lights, kidna like flashing the high beams
try this. put your car in REVERSE pulll the emo brake and put a block behind the tire, make sure your not going anywhere, or if you have a friend handy - have them hold the brakes down.. now you can test the fuse box (with a light tester) before and after then you'll have a couple of ideas where the fuse could be (((for the slow - the ones that light up when the reverse is on, but were off when the reverse was off, is a start))). Thats if the user manual, fuse guide or Chiltons/Haynes books dont work. I think your the only one to try this... i saw in a european mag one time, some one made their license plate flip down (at the touch of a button) and they had 8 HID bulbs behind it , for a quick flash of both tailgaters and highbeams in your mirror buttmunches, expensive but effective!!! then when you've done your damage, your tag flips back up, all James Bond style!
I've been thinking of putting two bright @$$ bulbs, probably sumtn simple like slim fog lights or those bright after market reverse lights, molded into my back pillars in the back dash... higher up and more effective
first, what year is your car... then we can tell what wiring to consider... second, i think the reverse light thing would be illegal, if a cop ever saw you doing that.
U think it would be illegal - no let me clearify - It simply IS illegal - but we do a lot of illegal mods to our rides so whats one more.. i'll look again, but i have friends who are Sherrif's and they sent me to a site (accessable to the public) to print up ALL the laws, in nice lil chapters and i got the 3 pages on Automobiles and Lights. Interesting stuff.
it is illigal to do that, sometimes cops tailgate you to get you to do something stupid like that,if you dont know it is a cop.
taking online traffic school right now;just coverd that part, and it sucks having to do this
Reverse lights are nothing new to the hot rod community, as it is generally used to signal to another person that you want to race them. It's been around for as long as I can remember (i.e. for me the 70's). Just find the power wire on the reverse light bulb assembly in your trunk and splice a wire into it. Run this wire to an on/off switch located in a convenient location of your choice (under the dash, center console, etc...). Then run a wire from this switch to the fuse box. Hide the wire running from the trunk along the door sills so everything looks neat and you're good to go!

thought about that but hesitant about pulling up the back seat and all the trim to hide the wire. oh well, i'm having second thoughts about this, more on the lazy factor than the cop/legality/lawsuit factor
FORGET THE REVERSE LIGHTS!!! add the flamethrower kit to your exhaulst... hell get another windshield fluid pump and fill it with gas, mount it under the back bumper, aim the hoses with the exhaulst, and let a friggin rip!! Reverse lights aint got nuttn on em.. i mean, if your going to get in trouble and break a law - do it right!
oh yeah, and those tailgaters will get off your @$$
