scraping sound after replacing cv axle

Ok, heres my story. The car is a 1991 toyota camry (4 banger)

a couple of weeks ago I did the front pads on my car. No big deal. Noticed that the cv joint boot was ripped. No big deal.

By the time that I get to replacing it, it started to click.

Crap.

Ok, so i order up a whole new axle (from toyota no less), but i lift up my car and the entire undercarriage was rusted up and there was no way that id be able to undo all those bolts in the amount of time that I had. So heres what I did.

removed old half shaft

removed half shaft from new axle assembly (passenger side axle)
took most of the grease from the new axle assembly and put it into the old tripod housing where the new half shaft was going.

sealed it up, installed the rzeppa joint into the hub, tightened up the bolts and left.

a day later I get something that sounds like a backing plate rubbing against the rotor. After a failed attempt to take off the wheel with the emergency wrench (even after standing on it)

i crawl underneath the car to see if i can get a look. (left all my tools at work) The boot looks good. Im not seeing a leak where I put a new clamp. I pulled back the backing plate and spin the tire (after lifting it up with the emergency jack of course.

still sounds like a noise comign from the wheel.

im sorry for the length of the post, but tommorow morning im going to be able to put my car on the lift and was hoping for some direction in which to proceed.
