GTX/GTX HM/Mobil 1?

Hey all,
Got a quick question for you all. I've done a ton of research and have read all the threads I could on synth vs. conventional oil, but I'm still at a loss as to what I should do for my engine at the next oil change. The engine (3VZFE) has 151k miles on it, has run Castrol GTX in there for the life of the engine, changed it every 3-4k miles, and have kept up will all other maintenance as well. My quandry is whether or not to stay with regular GTX, go with high mileage GTX, or switch to a synthetic. THe car doesn't have any leaks that I can find, except for a small seep around the valve covers. The covers were replaced late last year, but they still let a little through now and then. I've heard that if there aren't any leaks to speak of, then bypass the high mileage stuff and stick with regular oil. If that's the case, then I was thinking of going synthetic, as if an engine doesn't have leak problems now, then synthetic might be okay. However, I'm aware of the issues of synth causing leak problems on an old engine from reading the old threads. What would you all recommend?

I would go with the Mobil 1. It's a good quality oil. You can pick up a 5 quart container at Wal Mart for $20

Make sure to use a good filter, ie. not FRAM.

You said that there's only a small seep from the valve covers. I converted my 88' Corvette over to synthetic at 90,000 miles with no problems. I seriously doubt an old Chevy has better build quality than a Toyota.

As for my Toyota, I'm just too cheap to switch to a synthetic.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you havent' had any probs with the GTX why switch? Conventional oils should be fine for short OCIs.

GTX is a good oil, ran it in a few of my cars, but I like Synthetics better. Might be a physcological thing.I am currently running Castrol Syn in my Cam, switched over about a 1000 miles ago. Flushed it before I did. I have a 3VZFE with 160 000 miles. Same amount of leakage around the valve covers. Actually slowed leak down when I retorqued the covers. Same stuff happening in my car so far, no changes. Have not tried high milage oils yet. I will continue running synthetics, just researching brands, considering Amsol as soon as I can find out more. Will post if it changes.

Going to look for the adapter for oil filters later - the one that relocates it so it dos not make a mess when you remove it.
