Is there a procedure for registering with Toyota as a Camry owner? - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

I got this 2000 Camry from my mom. I recently foudn out it's a "sludge monster." As far as I know she never got the letter. Is there a way to notify Toyota that I am the owner of this car so I get any further recall/warranty notifications?

Sludge is on the TSB/Recall info. for camry engines. It doesn't matter who the owner is..the dealership should honor your request to get it cleaned..and/or remediated as needed. Just talk to the dealership....and keep any oil change receipts handy (with copies to sound more convincing).

Toyota use to have an owners section with forum and everything on their site but as of late 2000 they took it down.

Best bet is what jhbhatia said, also the dealers pass the info if they are doing their job correctly.

But if you want to make sure, just call the 800 number and tell them you own the Camry and would like to recieve future TSB and other news that relates to you.

I will get any further notices mailed to me.

At the end of the convo I was like "So in three years when my engine gets all sludged up you're gonna cover that under warranty, right?" (jokingly). Quentin was very stiff "We will examine the circumstances." I said I was just kidding, I change my oil regularly.

Yeah, Some of the reps there seriously need to get laid on a regular basis, while others need to learn about the company that they are working for and the cars that Toyota sells.
