K&N is nothin' special. you are pretty much paying for the rights to have a K&N sticker on the side of your car. but you dont need the rights to do that anyways(see ricer in the dictionary)

I don't know what site you were looking at, but there is a difference in filters. I was actually present at a test where air was run through both filters. There was a ball on the other side that would float with the air flow. The K&N worked a lot better.
But the engine can only suck in so much air. And the way the Camry intake is designed, it gets that amount with a stock filter. On many other cars, you can get as much as a performance change as a little Short-ram filter(you only buy those for the sound anyways. whats the difference?).
And K&N unlike other filters are reuseable. Always nice. And it will save you money in the long run.
Unlike standard filters (which are made of paper), K&N use oil to trpa dirt. Which over all works better to clean the air.
Either way, you want your engine to stay as clean as possible. That's what matters. Who care about performance when your engine isn't running?

And too all the noobs out there, and everyone else who still doesn't have a clue, Intakes don't give you jack for perfomance. The most I have ever seen added (dyno tested) was 9hp and 6 ft/lbs of torque. That's nothing! You wont even feel that. You don't start feeling a difference until around 30hp.
The only something like a CAI is good for, is getting cooler air to the engine. And that onlymakes your engine run more efficent. It doesn't
add anything.
