Exact Magnaflow Part Number

hey guys, ive done lots of research both on and off TN and ive decided to buy a magnaflow muffler. The problem is I have no idea which one to buy. It seems so confusing, but basically it goes like this. It seems the most logical thing to do is to run a catback. It sounds like 2 and a half inch pipe is a good size for a 94 i4, so i planned on that as well.

Now for the muffler, I know lots of you guys have magnaflows, which model do you have? I think I want something oval bodied, not a round can style, and I want a larger than stock tip but not a huge one. Which models do you guys have, like part numbers? Do I go titanium, stainless, or aluminized? I just want to make sure I dont buy a rice one or a truck one, I want the right fit and sound. Thank you so much for your patience and time guys.

I don't know where you looked but the correct pipe size for your I4 is 2.25 not a 2.5 (unless you got plans for turbo).

For mufflers, go here: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/mirror.htm

All the info you need is the inlet size which have to correspond with the piping size you plan on running.
Chose any style you want, they give you dimentions and all that good stuff.

Stainles steel is pretty good, titanium is expensive, so match your pocket with your interest.

There is no guarantee for right fit, they all universal. Exhaust shop will take care of the mounting it. If you plan on getting oval one you shouldn't have any problems.

I put on a round one and its little bit dropped but still looks good.

Check out my set up.

Magnaflow and Remus were the best looking mufflers i saw at the time of purchase, so good choice. anyway like CamryMax sed 2.5" is too big for a 4 cylinder, i think its too big for my V6 that has 2.25" as standard. Anyways i went with the twin tip Magnaflow:

#14816
2.25" Inlet, 3.5" Diam. Tips
Double Wall, Straight Cut
7" Tip Length
14" Muffler Body Length

i think it looks as if it belongs there, doesnt jus look like something stuck on, looks a lot less boyish Honda Civic and doesnt make that 'fart in a jar' noise that comes with cheapo cannon mufflers. even some of my V8 mates think it sounds mad at higher revs, thats an achievement!
oh and dont get titanium if youre not stupidly rich, no point really... its money that could go towards real performance gains... jus do the stainless cat-back i reckon.

anyway thats my 2c

Thank you very much guys! I guess I misunderstood on the piping size, but thanks for correcting me. Yeah Im definately not expecting any performance gains of particualrly looking for them, I just want something that looks and sounds better than my rusty oem one. I agree with the civic fart can thing, I want something that looks right at home on my camry, almost stock but with a larger tip. Thats why I was thinking about going with an oval body.

So If i do go with an oval body, should I just measure my current muffler and look for a similar size? And what are the major differences between double and single walled? thanks so much for the help.

Good idea.

That why you'll know what'll fit.

I think it has to do with the construction of the muffler.

Single walled = single layer of steel.

Double walled = 2 layers of steel.

yeah I believe the single and double wall has to do with the tips, but thats just a guess... answering my own question haha. but anyway, the dimensions of my stock muffler are 19.5 in long, 12 in wide, 7 in high, and a 2 1/4 in tip. So Im going to look for a muffler with close to those dimensions. This is the one im looking at now...

either number 14818 or 14814

Thanks again for the help
