need expert opinion on oil/oil filter issues for my 3rd gen v6

hi all. i just have two quick questions regarding my 3rd gen (92) camry v6.

first, ive read so many different things regarding oil filters for this car. i was thinking of getting an OEM filter but not the one for this car. does anyone know the part number for a filter that would fit this application. (from other lexus/toyota models?)

second, i have ~160k mi on my car and was thinking of switching to a synthetic oil at my next change? any input. is it ok to switch from convention to synthetic? worth the switch?

any advice would be much appreciated. thanks all.

-regards,

Q#1: http://www.toyotanation.com/faq/all_...g=1&lang=en#17

Q#2: With the mileage that you have it's a little too late to switch to synthetic now. Doing so you will get oil leak from your seals. Do twice as much oil change for regular oil if that makes you feel better.

or go to a part store and get a ph3600 (fram) or have them cross reference that # for another

with so many miles, I would stick with dino oil. It's doing fine now so there's really no need to change.

I would stay away from FRAM filters. The OEM filters seem good, so are Mobil 1, K&N and Purolator Pure One filters.

I have the same question I have 66,000 mi on my Gen 4.5 (01 LE V6) and was also thinking of switching to a synthetic oil at my next oil change and I need your input, experience and advise?

EKam, if you were me would you change over or do as you replyed in the above quote?

I would change my oil with dino twice as much if it meant not taking a chance with oil seal problems.
or
if its ok to go synthetic, then I would do it gradually if and only if I know there would be no leaks at this many miles.

PS

I do not know the previous owner and what type of oil he used but I did originaly have penzoil filter when I bought the car.
