I was wondering whether the torque is proportional to the weight..what is meant by this is does lets say a Honda Civic SI(111 lbs-ft torque) have the same take off as a Toyota Camry LE(148 lbs-ft torque) because it is a lot lighter?

I don't know the answer :oops: but I don't think it's not directly related to weight in any way.

If you really want to know, read this;

torque/horsepower has nothing to do with weight or aerodynamics. here is the true definition of tourqe- in mathematical form

Torque=(Horsepower x 5252)/RPM

that is it.

here is my cite:

the more weight, then the more torque that is needed to "push" the car off the line. motorcycles have little torque, but they go quick because they are light weight, am i right, or am i completely wrong?
