Cai Myth?

Hey there!

I've been told by my friend's father, who holds a garage in Montreal, that a cheap way to get more noise and, in some situations, a biiit more power without having to replace anything, is to open up the air filter box, remove the filter, remove the top part of the filter, and simply put on a SOCK around the pipe... So there the sock acts as the filter, but nothing to reduce the noise so it makes a big roar... Never tried that, he said it's something to try when you are poor (that suits me well!)..

Have any of you ever tried that? Do you think it would work, and be safe so I dont break my engine?

Thanks in advance!

i've done something like that to my integra and a safer way is to cut out the lower half of your air filter box then you'll get that roar you want without worrying about sucking in that sock.

hahaha! More noise. That's all intakes are. Sounds like an idea. I don't know how well socks will hold up against the air current. I think he might have been messing with you.

Either way, theres always a first. I say try it and tell us how it comes out.

my dad used a few sheets of j-cloth to make a air filter before for something .... no where as much air was being sucked in threw them but it did work ..... you just have to make sure you use a thick good sock with no holes in it and the intake wount suck up the sock
