Originally posted by cheezthis I don't. I road race my Integra GS-R instead. The Camry is just a daily car. I have a 90 V6 LE, it's not track material at all, haha.
i auto-x my '99 camry as well as my husband's '96 integra ls 5spd <NO VTEC> (which has a very well-balanced setup that is currently better suited than my camry)...that is until i get my stock suspension completely replaced with my new struts & springs which will be very soon i hope

^ yea my friend tells me that the integra is one of the best FF cars for this type of thing....
anyways i like to do some touge + twisties myself but i take it ez, so you can just call me a mountain cruiser
MR2's are great for auto-x, just watch out for snap-oversteer....weeeee
don't hate on hondas ya'll, not every single one out there is rice
integras are quite nice for auto-x as well as the older '89 civic si, which won many SCCA Nationals championships before the Mini arrived on the scene and now owns HS.

I've seen that video, very good. I get my new TRD Rear sway bar tomorrow from the man in the brown shorts and then my first ever autocross on Sunday... WOOT! I'm very excited for it. '93 Camry V6 with Whiteline springs, Tokico shocks, and soon TRD RSB However I'm in the same class as the MINI Cooper S, so I'm f*cked.

and yes best motoring are great for watching how to do heel/toe techniques as well as left foot braking. those techniques take practice to master... i am trying to learn left foot braking right now, but i am most proud of getting closer & closer to the cones to where i pass by them now i hear a WHOOSH sound making me smile like this
auto-x is so beneficial in so many ways...it shows you the limits of your car in a controlled/safe environment therefore making you a better street driver, able to quickly and safely avoid possible accident situations. auto-x also teaches you to LOOK AHEAD more than just what's in front of you by a car length. oh and you also become much more in-tune with your car, what it can and can't do, how it will most likely react etc. i can't say enough good things about auto-x and i hope that everyone will try it at least once in any car.

Auto-x is good, nothing wrong w/it at all. However, I challenge everyone to try a road course event as well. Think auto-x, but on a much larger scale, in every manner. You brake harder and drive faster.
My Integra is a pretty solid platform for it. There are better, but for the money, it's hard to beat it. Plus, parts for it are relatively cheap compared to others.

What club are you running with? Don't the suspension mods put you in a modified class? Good luck on sunday!
As for autoxing a camry: I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think taking a camry to autocross is excellent because in stock form it's not set up to handle that well, so you really have to pay attention to what you're doing. Push too hard and you upset the car, push not enough and you get poor times. Given the weight and acceleration, you really have to pay attention to where the fast spots are and where you can push the car a little harder than is "reasonable".
