odd error code

I've had my egr on the blink for a while, but the other day I decided to check for codes just to make sure that was the only problem. Unfotunately I also got a "2 blinks pause 8 blinks" code that isn't in my Haynes...anyone know what this code is for (2,7 is an O2 sensor, maybe it's related)?
92 v6 camry btw.

Sorry, I have no answer, I am in search of how you checked your code. My engine lite came on over weekend. Autozone only check the new 96 models or newer. If you don't mind, what did you do and use to check your codes.

Did you ever find out what that code was? I am getting the same code (28). The Haynes manual says nothing about code #28. As a matter of fact, none of the codes have an 8 in them. I am starting to wonder if this means there is something wrong with the computer.

I have already replaced one O2 sensor. That cleared the code 21 that I was getting. Now I am not sure what to think. Especially since the closest code is #27 (sub-O2 sensor) and that only applies to models with CA emissions.

My only other guess is that 28 refers to the rear O2 sensor (left bank).

Any help you (or anyone) can give would be appreciated.

I replaced my O2 sensor and that corresponded to 27 for me (I'm in CA) so I don't think it's anything special about that...
The rear O2 sensor sounds like a good idea nad it can't hurt you too much to replace them (they're only about 30 iirc)... I've managed to narrow my egr code to my vsv, but who knows where that 28 came from.
I'll keep you posted if I find anything, I might go around and start pestering toyota techs.

#2 O2 sensor refers to the sensor behind the converter. both O2's on the manifolds are #1's. Some years are called front and rear. Just depends on who wrote that years parts list.

Oh and the left bank is the sensor nearest the radiator. Toyota refers to left and right as if your sitting in the drivers seat and the engine is facing the front of the car. And bank 1 is always the bank with the #1 cylinder. Also i believe in 92 only calif. spec camrys had a sud O2 sensor. Thats what the componet layout is showing.

I have the same code (28) recently. According to the factory manual, the code 28 is "right bank main oxygen sensor circuit."

So per your explanation (left and right from the driver seat), I have "rear" or "firewall side" O2 sensor problem, right?

One more question: O2 sensor in my car is sinle wire sensor, right?

That would make sense since I just got another two codes for ~30 miles, lean condition and 28 aka right bank, which is the only sensor I haven't replaced. The ones in the manifolds are single wire since they don't need to be heated iirc, the one after the cat is four wire.
