Hi!
I have been reading threads on the board and learning a lot.
I just bought a 2002 Avalon XLS with about 41,000 miles. The prior owner also owned a Toyota affiliate company and the car was well taken care of. As you know the power-train is still covered under warranty up to 60,000 miles. I can buy mechanical repair coverage from a reputable company (I think --it's CUNA Mutual -- been around a long time and puts together services and products for credit unions to sell their members). The cost varies on length of term etc. but for example:
I can get another 36 months and another 45000 miles (so takes me up to 86,000 miles) for $886.00 with a $100 deductible per repair.
This would cover (generally speaking -- cause none of you probably want to read all the specifics!!) engine, transmission, front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, steering, front suspension, brakes, electrical, air conditioning. For more money I can cover more things or go up to 100,000 miles and also can choose less or no deductible.
I don't work on my car.
So, anybody have advice on whether I should buy this coverage? I can't buy this deal later. Have to sign on when I sign loan docs with Credit Union.
Or another question that would help me decide -- on you Camry or Avalon, did you have any significant repairs under 100,000 miles? What did it cost you?
Thanks for any advice or info.!
