Struts and springs are completely different. They compliment one another.

Im not sure bout this.... but i think Struts r also known as shock absorbers. Without shocks and just springs, cars would be bouncing up and down like a bball everytime u hit a bump.

The type of springs u get determine how low your ride is and also how hard/soft your ride it.

Im not sure if im right about this stuff... but thats my understanding of the two.

The springs on the car support the wait of the car and determine its ride height.

Struts and shocks are a little different, but they perform the same function: They dampen changes in the force on the wheels. ie> nose dive, squat, body roll, and bouncing.

Both work together to regulate the way your car behaves on the the road.

these are all good points, and generally the stiffer the springs, the stiffer the struts should be to avoid bouncing.

Shock absorbers" are physically separated from the car's springs.

A "strut," on the other hand, is a shock absorber with a spring that fits around it.

Struts are common these days because they save space. But they cost more because the springs have to be removed before the "shock absorber" part of the strut can be replaced.

And removing springs is a job that requires special tools--most importantly, a football helmet!
