The quote that a Toyota bodyshop gave to me for replacing my stock springs with a TRD one is about $550 Cdn dollars, however, I went to a Chinese bodyshop in Toronto, they are only going to charge me $120 Cdn dollars for the job. Why is there such a big difference in the cost? IS there any big difference between the work they do? Would it be safe for me to have the springs replaced by the private bodyshop?

Toyota mechanics are about 3 times more expensive than a body shop mechanic. If the body shop can get it done for less, then by all means go there.

Go to Basil, our Forum-recommended mechanic for installation of the springs. He is a Toyota mechanic without Toyota prices. He'll charge around $200 for the job. It's more expensive than other places, but that's because he is a fully qualified Toyota-trainned mech. Those who have gone to him no longer trust their car to anyone else.

Hey TubbyC, do you have a gold/silverish 2000+ Gen4 with the TRD kit? If so, I might have seen you last night 11:30PM going west on Finch near Yonge. You were probably at Twister K or Yonge K.
