exhaust problem help plz

ok well for a long long time now my muffler (i think its the muffler) makes a kind of clinging sound like its hanging off when i rev up from a stop, but it's on the car fine. i'm thinking it's something internal in the pipe or muffler.

any input or ideas of what to do?

there may be a part of one of the heat shields that go over the exhaust pipe broken. and when your on the gas itll rattle like tht. i went a yr wondering what i f!@#ed up. turns out tht was the whole problem. same thing with my friends eclipse. thoguth it was the res. but it wasnt.
