I have side markers on my Gen 3 (1995) Camry and I have them wired to turn on when the headlight turns on. I want them to flash when I turn but inorder for me to do that, I would have to wire it to the turning signals (The bottom ones) and those dont turn on when the head lights turn on, only when signaling. I've seen on some cars they are on but ALSO flash for signaling. Anyone with previous knowledge of wiring the sidemarkers to be on when the headlights are on and to flash when the signal is on, please help me.
Thanks so much

How can you fit two bulbs into a small side marker?

I have that same set up. It comes down to finding the right wire at the turn signal and splicing that wire into your sidemarkers. Henry helped me to wire it up, so maybe he can offer some assistance here.

BTW, lankanprince, what colour is your gen3?? I saw a taupe one the other day with sidemarkers and swirly (chrome??) five-spoke rims. Is that you??

Here's a writeup from someone years ago....

There's only 2 wires for each side marker and it's very simple to wire em up. Do it like this: negative (ground) from side
marker should be spliced into the power (hot/positive) wire for the blinker on that side. then splice the power (positive) lead from the side marker to the parking light's positive lead on that side. wiring it this
way will make your side markers come on with the parking lights, and will make them blink alternately from the blinkers - ie: while the bulb in the blinker for that side is ON, the side marker will turn off, then come back on when the blinker turns off.

Henry,

Did you figure out what that spare 2-prong grey plug in the fender does ?

---hey anyone remember the "Married with Children" episode where Al couldn't figure out what the lightswitch in the kitchen did, and he spent all the show looking, and at the end of the show the dog is sitting in his dog house wondering why the damn light in his house keeps going on and off ? Sorry, white-trash show - but it was funny in the late 80's - early 90's  ----

So Henry, is it connected to the blinkers ?

Just wondering....

I have to shorten my CAI so I'm going to test it out at the same time...that plug actually looks like it would fit perfectly in my side markers! I'll definitely let you know...probably look at it in the next two weeks.

BTW - I used to watch Married with Children religiously for awhile...and I did see that episode! Kelly Bundy was SOOO heavenly back then...for the young people out there, she's in that new movie with Cameron Diaz....
