LED Turn Signal Bulbs, hyper flashing (bulb out warning).....help? any fixes?
Hey guys, i got these 19 LED 3157 Bulbs off ebay, and when i put them in, they hyper flash, indicating the bulb is not working, but they still work, i saw on ebay a resistor crap thing that fixes this, but i wanna get this done soon and dont wanna wait for it to be shipped - so does anyone know how this would be possible? Here are couple links to the ebay fixes:
Originally posted by KoboChan or you can disconnect the bulb out warning indicator.. im not sure how.. but there should be a way..
i dont think there is somthing you can disconnect, someone told me once LEDs use less power so the circuit is 'shorter' and it makes the bulb blink faster. So the only way you can get it to stop is to buy a resistor or somethin like that
ya i went to radio shack, it was $4 a resistor, and i would need 6 of them, and they would get VERY hot (as hot as a lightbulb) so i also need to connect them somehow together, im gonna go to an elcetronic store and see what they can do for me.
Damn. I only paid about $4 for the 2 resistors I needed and about a buck for some electrical tape and T-tap wire splices. Went out on a break from work to wire them up, tape off the wiring points, then wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape... not even noticable really, since it was wrapped in shrink tubing before. Haven't had any heat issues even on hot summer days.
try for ceramic resistors if heat a problem not the small little ones, but when you put in the resistor wouldnt you have to put it on the neutral line? it you put it on the postive line that would drop the positve voltage making it seem not as bright?

i jus looked at LED replacements on ebay...when you put these in and replace your 1156 bulbs, will you actually see the individual LEDs or will it look the same as a regular 1156 bulb?

You could also try www.superbrightleds.com
They sell all kinds (not just automotive).
I'm happy with my 194 Super Bright LEDS, but just keep away with the multi-LED bulbs - (i.e. I bought 4 of the 194's that are actually made up of 4 smaller LED's on a tiny PCB) either something at the board-level broke or a bad connection happend somewere - but they failed after a short time. Get these ones
Here is your resistor thingy too $ 4.95 !!
Good luck

shit I bought 3.3 OHM 25 watt resistor and a 2.7 OHM 25 watt resistor, connected them in a series, and it still gives me a bulb out warning, when i put my regular bulb in it goes very very dim, i also tried connectin the regular bulb, and continue runnin the power to the LED one, the regular lights up but the led doesnt.
I need help, anyone got suggestions? I cant find 50 watt resistors anywhere......thanks! (need an electrition or a technition here hah)
ok so i got ONE of the resistors off ebay, here is what it looks like:
--------[__resistor___]---------
its just a resistors with 1 wire commin out of each end, now, how the hell do i connect it, i cut my power wire and it was somethin like this:
= - power wire
- - resistor wire
====-----[__R__]-----====(BULB)
now, when i put my regular bulb in this sytem, it BARELY blinks, which is what is supposed to happen, when i put the LED in it starts hypwer flashin, but if i put it in the other way, it dont blink at all.....but its not hyper flashing......can someone help?
Does the resistor have to be connected to the ground wire at all? Thanks a lot
i think the resistor you got is too high. use this http://wolfstone.halloweenhost.com/T...d_LEDCalc.html to help you find out which resistor you need and just buy them from radio shack. and no the resistor doesn't have to be connected to the ground

wattage is more used for what kind of flow your gona want to put through it more like the size of the air pipe on your intake bigger pipe bigger flow, if you guys need around a 50 OHM, the you can do any combo till you get to 50OHM'S. the watts wount matter much in this case since it's "low voltage" (i blown 1/4 watt's before with 36 but not with 12) also i guess you want this on your NEGITIVE line since it's a negitive ground car your negitive line is what you reduce your flow on since your positive flow is what gives it the brightness that it needs. if i'm wrong then correct me.
