Toyota Camry autostart for Manual?

Do they make an auto-start option for the 1999 Toyota Camry V6 (manual transmission)? I already have autostart on my 1999 v6 auto-camry but am wondering if I swap out the auto-trans for a manual-trans, will the same stock-auto start system work with the manual transmission?

You can't have an remote start on a manual car. Because you have to push in the clutch in order to start it up. And you have to start the car in gear. So your car would drive away.

Are you 100% they don't make auto starts for manual cars AT ALL? If the system was setup like you describe, okay fine I agree....but it would be kinda neat if someone somewhere had it.. Hmm, I guess I'm just going to find a way to mod my auto-trans to be able to handle more aggresive driving?

You could bypass the clutch start switch.

But a remote / auto start on a car equipped with a manual tranny is not recommended.

You'll put more strain on the starter cos the tranny is engaged to the engine (clutch pedal not pushed in).

The only way it could be done was if you left the car out of gear when you park. If that were done then the car would be relying only on the parking brake to stay in place when parked.

yes, you def. can have auto start on a manual...a few of my friends do

not sure if they had to bypass the clutch start switch, but it seems to make sense that they would...however, i'm not too sure if the stress is noticeably greater or what...i believe the s2k has a push button start and you don't have to depress the clutch the start the car...now i don't know if that means it's ok to not depress it...

a lot of people park there car in neutral around here...but then again, i rarely ever see an inclined street in which to park around where i live so i suppose relying on just the ebrake is no big deal for us

edit: you'd also have to do something about the park/neutral switch that the car sees to make sure you don't engage in a different gear...i read about an accord who did something when he went to auto -> manual but haven't seen anything about it on a camry so not sure if it's difficult or not

where i live, it's crazy hills everywhere. winter time, it's a nightmare to drive around. my parents both drive RWD bmw's.. it gets ugly.

reminds me of this 1 time:
Roads were covered with snow. Her bmw couldn't make it up the hill on the way home, I was home for winter break. so I drove to the hill, and stopped at the top. I gave her my camry keys to go home in, and I went to see what I could do with her car. She drives down the hill, makes a U-turn then drives back up easily with no problem.

And I'm at the base of the hill trying with no luck trying to climb.
