Fog lights actually do serve a purpose

While back I installed some aftermarket fog lights on my gen5. I have upgraded the stock fog lights on my gen5 to 9005 bulbs, and installed old raybrig fogs (YELLOW) I had on my old car. Now it lights up the road.

I don't use the fog lights on a clear night. I only use it when I need them, in bad weather, or on a country road where a deer can jump out in front of you.

It seems yellow on one pic, because the fog light is yellow. With it on, it is clear that the driver can see things that can't be seen with the headlights alone. By the way, the headlight bulbs are silverstars in case anyone is wondering.

I driven with them at night in heavy rain and snow at night, but never got flashed. I probably would if I turn it on during a clear night.

yellow is better in fog and snow than white. The pattern and operation of OEM "fog lamps" are generally for aesthetics.

^ it's a misconception that yellow lights are better than white in fog. I don't remember the exact science to it, but it has to do with something like the water droplets not being small enough for the yellow light to have a better effect.

I believe its the opposite if I remember what I studied for my physics exam last month...The yellow light rays are longer, therefore they are less likely to bounce off of fog and rain particles. Red light rays are longest, making them the best choice for visibility purposes, but of course everyone would think that would look ugly - plus they wouldnt be street legal. So they use yellow instead.

did you mean replaced your stock low beams to 9005 (high beam) bulbs? i would think there must've been heavy modification of the fog lamps to fit the larger 9005 bulbs not to mention the risk of the fog lamp wiring harness melting i'm waiting for my sylverstar 9006 low beams to die so i can get some sylverstar 9005 fitted in place of them

dead on. In addition, human eyes are most sensitive to yellow and green.

I didn't do any heavy mod to put in a 9005 fog bulb in the stock fog light. Just the standard issue socket snipping people do for low beam lights.

If you ask me, fog lamps that are "blue" serve no purpose. Gotta be white or yellow. I chose yellow because they seem to attract more attention in bad weather.

Here's a pic with the yellow fog light alone. You can see why I don't use this in clear weather. I aimed it down a bit after I took this picture.

Yeah, depending on how the fog lights are installed, they can give you a much wide spread of light. Mine even give me a small amount of light curb side, so I can see if anything is coming into the road. They help a shit load. That's why I will always have fog lights on whatever car I drive

forreal, yellow lights are really nice
i have some in my headlights and i can see really well, tehey are mtec H4 super gold bulbs and i like them a lot, also the cops dont' seem to notice me as much since instead of the blue xenon/hid look, i just have a deep gold bulb
don't get me wrong though, i roll blue sometimes too, just fyi- gold headlights can be nice too

I like blue/HID color also, but those PIAA blue halogens make me sick. They are nothing but christmas decorations. Silverstar bulb colors are good. Any more blue and it'll be like those stupid PIAA "superblue" ripoff rice bulbs.

I guess it all comes down to preference.
