is it ok to use any brand powersteering fluid to top it off cause i found it to be low???? it for a 98 avalon

Yeah or even auto trans fluid.

it says on my cap to use only dexron type ATF

Just flush everything out and not mix different types to be nice

pretty much any generic PS fluid will do, unless its specified in your owners manual, would probably say on the cap too
