Hi, I am a new guy, but I have been mulling around for weeks, and this is a kick ass forum. I own a 02 SE V-6 w/trd springs, tint, and trd 17" wheel and tire package on the way. But I need some speed! I have been reading about the Y-pipe, but not sure if it will help w/out SC, or what can I get away w/living in the US, as far as emmisions. Also how can I get one? Any other ideas for some help until I can get a supercharger?
Sorry so long but thanx in advance
where in the US are u??? if u're in california u'll be fine with the y-pipe shouldnt be a problem... also try changing the intake, exhaust that should give some but not much...
got a question for ya though since u dropped ur 02 cam wat are u shocks like?? sealed or serviceable??
I too have an SE V6. How are the TRD springs? Can you give a the low down on them? And if you're inquiring about the Y-pipe, contact Ultimate Racing (416)587-2592. You can take a look at my pics at http://www.picturetrail.com and type in "sev6" to view my albums.
And if you want speed, buy a different car!
Thanks for answers, it is a Camry SE, as far as the struts, I just asked my tech at the Toytota dealership I work at, and none of the new struts in the Camrys are serviceable. They are all sealed. I live in Wisconsin, and I know they take off some of the pre cats, or something on the Y-pipe. As far as I can tell there is no intake for the 6cyl yet, and I havent found an exhaust either. I was told by TRD that this summer a SC will happen. It seems the Y-pipe is my only answer at this point, but I'm not sure how to get. Thank again
My bad, I thougt you had a S/C already on your supposedly '02 Solara. Where in Wisconsin are you? There are a few of us from Chicagoland area that meet up from time to time. Perhaps you would have some time to join us one day.
Sorry Se V-6 missed your post before I responded, the springs are really nice. I owned an IS 300 before this and it now corners as flat or flatter even w/the stock struts. once the new wheels/tires come should really be super. Where is Ultimate Racing? how much for the pipe? it seems like you really gained alot w/it. Super interested. Thanks
I live about 30 min. north of Milwaukee, I would be super interested in getting together. My job doesnt allow too much free time, but there is always time to "car talk"
You should call Ultimate Racing (416)587-2592. Ask for Johnson and he is in Toronto, Canada (I'm also in Toronto). He will advise you about pricing, etc. You can get the Y-pipe w/ a high flow cat if you wish as well. I just think 3 cats are too much. I think big gains can be found by fabricating a header w/ high flow cats instead of our super restrictive stockers.
I think we're a little too far to meet up seeing how your from WI. You can always drop me a line via email though.
How come you decided to sell your IS300 and buy the Cam instead? I was quite the opposite. I wanted to buy an IS300 but ended up w/ the Cam. Didn't like it? The only thing that I appreciate about this Cam is the room...and it's a good looking car too.
Do you do oil changes yourself? If so, with the lowering springs, can you still do an oil change w/o jacking up the car? In stock trim, I can just slide underneath w/o any hassles. I guess it just makes life easier but if you can do the same when it is lowered, I will definently do it. Sounds silly eh?
Please keep me posted about the info on the S/C. If TRD incorporates an intercooler into the S/C (unlikely I know) I would be VERY interested.
I was not impressed w/performance on the IS because at the time I couldnt get the manual. It drew all kinds of looks etc, but I have 2 small kids w/car seats. So I guess it came down to not enough performance to make up for the lack of room/comfort. if it was the 5speed I may still have.If I didnt work for a Toyota dealer, I would have got the 3.2TL S-type and killed both birds. But I am very Toyota loyal.
