i would agree with gen 4, gen 3 come close in 2nd. i personally think the gen 4 has a nicer body then gen3s and plus the got a lot of stuff made for the gen4 more then the gen3's
who needs luxury, and body styling when you can have 115hp of blistering 4cyl goodness, and plenty of ebay aftermarket accessories like "real" carbon fiber gauge cluster covers!

my vote is for gen3.... i like the overall style of it and though ive never driven a gen4 v6, my gen3 v6 owns my mom's gen4 i4. i just like the feel of gen3's better, though the interior packages get better as the years go by
oh yeah and 3rd gen has coupes and dual exhaust tips for v6 version
