hey guys, i just bought some 6.5" infinity speakers for the rear part of my 92 camry. How the hell do i install them? I can't seem to take out the stock rear speakers, and i tried taking out the grill from the interior and f**ked that up so they grill is screwed up, how the hell do i take these speakers out?!! please, my grill looks embarrassing, does anyone know of a website that has pictures and stuff???? pleasE??????!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the 93 is anything like my 2000 solara, you have to take the panels off, it's a pain in the ass, you can't just take the grills off, they are glued to the back board. You have to take the entire back panel off.
What Infinity's did you get ?? I have the 6 1/2 Kappa components in the front and 6 x 9 Kappa's in the back, You'll love them great speakers !!! Very crisp and clear
ok so i have to remove the whole back panel, is that the whole back thing, kinda like the dash board, only that this one is in the back and it is carpeted?? dammit! i got the 62.3i kappa for $250 they are 6.5" and i'm putting them in the back. u got any pics of this stuff that i can go by, i'm kinda of a newbie for audio installation
ok now i was trying to take out the factory speakers in the front, but i heard this ripping noise, as if cardboard or paper was ripping, and i need to use a lot of force to take out the grill, is this supposed to happen? can somebody please help me?
First off, the stock rear speakers are 6x9s not 6.5 . Howver the fronts are 6.5.
To gain access the the rear speakers you have to remove the rear deck, which also requires that you remove the rear seats and other pcs surrounding it. It's fairly easy. Here's what you do;
1. Remove the rear seat cushions by yanking them in an upward direction. It's simply held in place with clips in the middle, left and right sides.
2. Remove the each of the side bolster pcs by unscrewing a bolt near the bottom by the seat belt buckle area.
3. Fold down the back rests of the rear seats. There you'll find some plastic "nipple" thingys. Pop those off to expose screws that need to be removed.
4. Remove the third brake light completely. Carefully pop off the brake light cover. Unscrew the light brake assembly. unplug the harness.
5. The rear deck should be pretty easy to remove now. If you're having a hard time, it's because it's probably just snagged somewhere. Take your time.
6. I may have forget one of two minor pcs that need to be removed. If I did they're held in place with clips too. So just pul them out.
As for the front door skins... Go here;

dammit man, this sounds like a lot of work, i will just pay someone to do it for me, thanks anyways man, btw, i f*ed up my grill for one of the rear speakers, do u know where i can get a replacement one?
If you really want to pay somebody $100 who is prolly gonna go through trial and error as well and mash up your car, be my guest.
It' really isn't THAT hard. I can get the rear deck off in no more then 10 mins. Mathematically speaking, you'll be paying this guy $600/hr to unbolt 6 screws and do some yanking!
Not only is it a money factor, but there's pride in doing it yourself. If you read the links I posted, I spent 3 hot summer days last summer installing an entire system for the first time ever. I had no clue what I was doing, but the guys on TN helped me out through the entire project.

I have to agree with Phi....your only real concerns are (1) accidently loosing or breaking clips (which can be bought at any parts store), (2) breaking the rear deck...which can be easily avoided, and (3) not hooking the speaker wires up correctly. Yes it is a pain in the a$$....but basically go (1) seat, (2) seatbelts, (3) both side pannels, and (4) rear plastic pannels, removing all bolts and carefully pulling the clips away from the body. I can imagine a shop might even try to charge you more since it is a more "involved" install. Unless you are buying a set of MB Quarts or JL audio components which run about 400.00 and have a 2 year warranty if the shop installs them...I would never have the shop put them in.

it is only $40, plus i'm only 17, high school student, without any help, but i'll just get someone to do it for me, i already booked an appointment for tomorrow to get them done, thanks for your time anyways guys
also my front speakers are door speakers, if i have good speakers with good bass playing through them, will sometime down the road something get rattled out of place because of all the bass that's going through the doors?
ey man i jus bought myself a system for the speakers you take the dooor panels off they all unclip or jus a normal phillps srewdrive.
will do then you either run new cables from the headunit to the speakers or from ya amp or wherever but then solder the wires to the speakr you shouldn't hab ne mo' twble.
:smile:
Well you can always solve the rattling problem with a set of Dynomat door kits. They will significantly help with any door noise. If you are worrying about things getting wrattled out of place...I wouldnt worry too much about that...hell I am hitting 145dbs and havent had anything fall off....yet...lol. In my old car I can't count how many times my review mirror fell off due to the bass...lol

As I mentioned earlier, the rear speakers are 6x9s. I'm pretty sure the 6.5 aren't gonna fit at all. Do yourself a favour and get a set of 6x9s for the rears and use the 6.5 for the front. You're asking for trouble trying to get them to fit.
Even better idea, use the 6.5 in the front, use stock for the rears for ambient fill and get yourself a subwoofer in the trunk.
