Transmission Shifting @ idle

I noticed that the transmission shifts to lower gears while the car is idling ( within 10 seconds ) in "Drive" after driving and coming to a stop. The shifting is suttle and smooth.

Is this normal for automatic transmissions ?

If it's coming to a (medium-slow) stop, it will downshift when the rpm drops below 1500-2000rpm.

It shouldn't down or upshift when it's idling.

I do not notice the down shifting at medium to slow stopping speeds but I would have to reconfirm this once the car comes out from body shop on Friday.

This is most noticeable when I come to a above medium to fast stopping speed.

Is there any situation where it will down shift at idle or should this not happen at all?
