These cars can do at least 200,000 miles but I don't know if I would spend 3,000 bucks on a 180,000 miles car. Really too high mileage, unless the guy accepts to lower the price. In fact I would say it also depends on what you want to do with this car. If you don't drive much at all then it might be a good car for you. If you drive more than 20 or 30,000 miles / year don't expect to keep the engine for several years

its going to be an around town car, to and from school and to friends houses pretty much. should i be looking at a newer car with higher miles, or an older car with fewer miles? what do you guys recommend for me if my price limit is $3000?

i think you can find another cam at that price with fewer miles...but in a 5spd version. that might be a little tougher.

Yes I am sure you can find a better deal. One advice I could give when buying a used car : Be patient, have a look at many cars and don't buy too quickly, it could take you several weeks in fact. Good luck !

I think you'll find a better deal. Good things come to those who wait. I just lucked into a 98 with 120k for $3750.

i drive mine (93dx 5sp, 226kmiles now) 20 to 30k per year, and still going ok, havne't done any repair for almost 2 years, just oil change and rotate tires, and still get 30+ mpg average. my guess is not how much or too high mileage on car, it is how well the condition of the car, if the bottom of the engine is not wet, and engine sound healthy, then it would still considered to be a good buy.
on the other hand, repair work could cost hundreds to thousands if unlucky.
