(!) light comes on for no reason?

Hey guys, just got an oil change the other day and I switched to synthetic. Ever since when I first start my car, and at random points the (!) light comes on. I don't have a manual so I can't check it up. Sometimes if I pull my ebrake up and put it back down it will go off. Did those grease monkeys break my baby? anyone selling a 99 camry manual?

check your oil levels, it may be too high.

Bring it back to the guys who did the work.

^ sounds right to me. if you rev the engine a little, does it go away?

i think (!) light is the ABS, for canadian version, i could be wrong

dot 3 or higher also check your brakes the fluid gets low when your brakes start to ware out. also when checking them look at the lines for anything that looks like a leak.

not dot 3 or higher dot 3 or 4 higher than that would be 5 and that can't be mixed.

yeah check for leaks around the rear drums cause that's usually where the problem is

That happened to me. My brake fluid was low.

so dot 3 blake fluid? im pretty sure there is no leaks, shes been sitting in my garage all night and theres no fluid anywhere. Im gonna try and get under it and look better today though. Where do I pour the brake fluid in? I don't have a manual yet(ebay hopefully) so any help would be appreciated, thanks guys!

no leak, just need more volume as your brake pads get worn, need to fill the space behind the piston... normal stuff

The master cylinder, where the brake fluid goes, is an opaque plastic container with a black cap that will have the required fluid written on it. It is connected to the booster, a large black round item on the driver side, on the fire wall. It is very easy to see if the level is low, unless it is very dirty. If the level is good, you will have to check the hand brake/microswitch. If that checks out alright, have a look at the elec connection at the master cyl.

well, the brake fluid is fine, im not sure about how to check the other things though. any more suggestions?

To check the micro, with the brake handle up and the ignition on, just push back the plastic dust guard and play with the little black button inside. Same as lifting handle up and down, but will be able to feel if switch is sticky. The light should go out when the button is down.
