warning light for rear lights

Recently had warning light on dash for rear light problem. Found both backup lights out. After checking all fuses and both bulbs without finding a problem the backups came back on. Apparently caused by a bad connection and corrected by reseating. The problem is the warning light will not go out. How to reset this?

I don't think you have to. On a 1998, it goes out after everything is working again. If yours is still on, that means that there is still a light out somewhere, or the sensor thinks there is. Make sure to check the center brake light and the license plate lights. If it all works, check the wiring from the lights all the way down the trunklid and down to where they meet the rest of the rear light wires. There may be a split somewhere that you missed. Hope this solves the problem.

Do a search on this one, it's been covered a few times. Search on the words 'reverse lights' with my username in the Camry forum and you'll come up with some relevant posts.
