What should I get done during th flush and refill the tranny. Should I ask them to clean the magnets and check the transaxle too? I want a complete flush and refill.

What are the requirements of a complete flush and fill.

I always thought that when you had someone else do the work; all they did was drain out the old fluid and put some new fluid in. They don't change the tranny filter or clean out the pan or magnets.

I just did mine myself yesterday. Used a Purolator filter that was $25.00 from Pep Boys and some Penzoil ATF from Wal Mart. Took a couple hours; not drips or anything.

I would just get the full flush and fill with the additive. The full flush and fill they should actually flush, not just drain the tranny fluid, then they add the additive (i dunno what it is called, but my car's tranny acted 100 times better with it) and fill er up. I paid around 150 bucks for the whole shebang at Firestone cause they were the cheapest and have a warranty for their service.

most places do an ok job..prob is u have to make sure they use decent fluid and filter

ask them if u arent sure what the package includes..usually itll be a drain, flush, filter and refill

in terms of additives mystery oil is pretty good...red bottle 3-4 bucks just buy one in advance and ask them to throw it in. most places will calculate out the extra volume of fluid and they definately shouldnt be charging u for adding it in

I'm tempted to drop in Slick55 for the tranny. Should I have them do everything thats in the Chiltion manual?

i dont think thats really necessary just a regular drain, flush, filter change, refill i think is good enough. i know this is obvious but ask them to add the goop ur gonna put in after the fluid is flushed and refilled...be sure they watch the levels of fluid..overfilling is a no no

chilton and haynes books give u total breakdowns because "just in case" u need to go in depth.

also keep in mind not all places (i.e. valvoline) will do tranny work if you have xxx,xxx amount of miles

in terms of slick55 u should really hit up consumer reviews and talk to the guys at the local shop...they might be able to give u some great feedback about the products
