What is this?

When I was removing tmy bumper the last time I cam across a strange plastic piece in the trunk that dosn't seem to do anything. Attached is a picture of it. Does anyone know what it does?

it's a vent. just about every car has it. it's called a quarter air duct.

^ I thought he would know. It's just like the good-for-nothing big ass resonator that's hooked to the stock intake. Back in 2001 when I had my first camry. I took my car to Toyota and they didn't even know what it was. After 30mins the senior mechanic came out and said "I guess it's a resonator". I tell you. Those dealerships.

yup i used it to run spark plug wires and propane lines on a mustang for the flame thrower

So THAT'S what it is..... I saw that when I was putting Raamat in my trunk, told my dad it was probably an air vent, but we couldn't figure out what it was for....

It's there to help equalize the interior pressure so that if someone slams the trunk or a door when your inside your ears won't pop.

actually its the rear exhaust vent for air travelling through your car. On my Cam, its located at the left rear, behind the bumper.
Its job is to let air out when there is positive pressure in the cabin and to seal when pressure equalizes so no water or crap gets in.
