Powertech Muffler anybody?

Anyone use the Powertech PT1012 with dual 4" tips on their 1996 Toyota Camry? I want a deep sound and the Powertech is klnown for the smooth deep growl without drone. In other words, the sound of the 350z or G35 Coupe is what I want. Any mufflers you suggest? Anyway, i searched and all the mufflers there seem to some quite ricey?

you can always go with their universal mufflers

check the site out at magnaflow.com

alot of V8s go with magnaflow and borla and it sounds mean as hell, but on an I4, itll probably not be as deep but still deeper than others. be sure to match your muffler with a good resonator to further tune the tone.

i second that for magnaflow!

if you dont get a resonator, you will sound like an airplane. an i4 is going to sound harsher than a v6 will with the same setup.

as far as resonators go- find a good exhaust shop and have them install whatever they got- it doesnt really matter unless you are going for all out performance. a resonator will also help to maintain backpressure so you wont lose low end.

i would personally recommend getting a custom setup from a shop that you know does good work. most performance mufflers have a straight-through design meaning its not going to block much sound at all...

this is my setup:
-2.5" from cat w/ generic resonator in the middle
-Y pipe to 2.25" pipes
-magnaflow street series mufflers with 4" tips and 2.25" inlets.

for my needs, my exhaust is perfect- it never gets so loud that you have to talk over it inside the cabin. at 2800 or so rpm it goes almost silent, so cruising anywhere above 65 is comparable to a stock exhaust in terms of sound. however there is a nice "hum" to it, specially at lower rpms. it sounds like a sport tuned exhaust and it is all custom.

jon

Oh, so Jwa urs does that too right? Goes silent after 2,800 or so, but with a lil hum. How would it be possible for it to sound like the common - more RPM the louder? Mine, especially at really low RPMs, like in traffic it makes popping sounds when I let off the throttle (when slowing down in gear) and I'm in 1st or 2nd gear.

Did you remove your resonator? I think that is a common problem when you don't have one.
