Wassup...If i buy a JL Audio W0 12 inch sub? What kind of amp should i get to power it and the speakers inside of my 92 camry? I want really good bass but not too high of a price for the amp thanks. Also does the JL audio W0 12 inch sub give good bass? What kind of speakers should I get for the inside of my car...thankyou

I ran 12 W-0s a few years back....absolutely awsome speakers for the money. The good thing about W-0s is that they sing off minimal power. However, if you put too much power on them they begin to distort extremely badly. I would say get an amp that has an RMS power level of around 250 watts dedicated to the sub. Now, I must admit I am not really an expert on 5 channel amps...just havent been in the market for them...so just dont sure what to recomend...sorry. However, if you are going to amp the highs, I would say go ahead and purchase a nice set of components for the front doors. Good luck!

Hey Tanama, I haven't talked to you in while. Congratulations on your Win at the sound contest. Also great new setup with your 2 JL's. How do you like the sound of your new box ?? I should FINALLY have pics of my system out here next week, I"ll let you know
As for the 12 W0 I think it's only rated at 125 RMS. I actually just sold mine back in the winter. Great sub, but had to setup it up to the 12 W3 which is 250 RMS. I have had a 5 chanel amp for 4 years now and love it. IF you are just starting to up grade your system, it's a great way to start.
I'd suggest, getting a 5 chanel Alpine, they are expensive though, but worth it. That way it will give a boost to your internal speakers and send 125 RMS to your sub, which is good for the W0. Then if you decide to up grade later down the road, you can bridge your 5 Chanel to 4 chanel giving much more watts to your internals and then add a seperate amp for a bigger sub. Just a thought
Hey Dctodd! Ya it has been awhile. Definately can't wait to see those photos. Thanks...ya it was a big suprise...now I have a lot of the regulars in my division on my ass...so I built that beast. I sure hope it gives me better numbers. I must say driving around....those low tones just plain hurt...lol. The nature of the subs have changed quite a bit....with the curve much more weighted around the low hertz. Think a little of the tight, high bass is gone, but all together SQ is still there. Curious to see what my good tone is now. Previous it was 50hertz...always had highest numbers with that...but we will see tomorrow and Sunday.
As I said can't wait to see the photos, and thanks for filling in that 5 channel amp questions...for me it's multiple amps all the way! LOL.

Well...as I said before really can't help you amp wise...but alternator....oh no you should be fine. Just use adequately thick power wire, good grounds, and maybe a battery cap and you will be fine. I am currently pushing 3 amps (2 (500x1rms) and 1 (50x2) along with TV/DVD, neons, radar, etc...and have done fine with a cap, Optima battery, and some wiring work. The alternator will be next...but thats only to keep those volts up at competition, not because I desperately need one....so you will be fine with your stock alt. I can assure you.

Well I think the best are MB Quarts....or the JL components...but both will run you around 400+....clarion full ranges are not bad. If you want real cheap but quality name....I was looking in my recent Crutchfield....and they had a set of 6.5 components by Polk for 129.99....definately cant beat that. Infinity Kappas sound pritty darn good as well.

Yeah put it this way, you're going to get what you pay for. MB Quarts are awesome. The new high end Polks are really nice from what I have read, but haven't actually heard them.
Like Tmanana said, check crutchfield, they are good to deal with and have low prices. I have Infinity Kappa's myself, I really like them, if I were to do it again though might go with JL's for the front compents leave the Kappa's for my back 6 X 9's but I am very happy with what I have now.
Tmanana, looks like my pictures might take another week.....I decided to go to Cali this Friday again. So I'll let you know when I get to it !!
You bastard! Well I guess I can be patient and wait another week. Got 2 first places this weekend in NSPL shows...so it was somewhat productive. However, my boxes only produced a 1 to 1.5 DB increase...not as much as I had thought....so I might brake out the saws again and port. Built these boxes bigger just in case I needed to port...so still can port these and be within JL's recomended volume. So we will see.....to port or not to port? hummmmmmm
Can't wait to see those pics DC!

Congrats again at your wins over the weekend !! Man you won't have room for all the trophies soon !! Yeah I have heard that having the port can really add some extra DB, but not always and I heard has to be done just right. I am sure you can pull it off. I never had the confidence in myself to do it, so I am happy with what I have now. I really want to install a DVD, but until they make them detachable or removeable, not going to do it.

Ya I know what you mean....I've done the research and think I should be able to have the right volume and port so I can tune it to the correct hertz....we will see . There is a lot of math involved in port tuning. Suprises me how many people buy prefab ported boxes from places like Best Buy and just place any old sub in it. For it to be optimal....you must have the correct enclosure volume, correct port width and length....majorly complicated.
