.... i know this has got to be a repeat. but i've searched for a good hour and can't find it. what does the power inverter for reverse gauges do? does it let you change colors, or....?

It is supplied with the gauges if you buy it as a kit. It really depends on whose kit you buy. Some have one color,some two, etc.
