When they ask me what car I'm driving, I proudly answer that it's a Camry..They look @ me like:"Sorry, man, maybe next time you'll get more lucky.." or "Even geo Metro is faster than a Camry" But when I see their '98 Civic with cheap @ss muffler for $69.95 off Ebay and homemade aluminum CAI which actually cut their low-end I start laughing. They think that their HUGE spoilers will increase their speed or altezzas(eeeew)will get 'em more performance..just kids which seen car like that at school and ask their mommy to buy 'em the same car. They race (actually abuse)their stock engine pushing it to the red line..After the engine start making strange noises or blue smoke is coming out of the tailpipe they sell it to someone else (which makes it someone else's problem). I love my Camry as is ("almost" stock), I know it'll last me for a long time. Tell me what you think about rice burners and what kind of experience you have had.
Thanks, proud to drive his Camry Maxim

Rice burners are one of TheWraith's favorite people to brutalized... From a roll I just leave in 5th and smash the gas...

BTW: I finally realized that I dont hate honda's justhave a hatered of their simplicity for making power and aftermarket support. Its like you dont have to be eistien to make a V8 big block fast...

Very true, I love my Camry. The thing that I really hate..These guys with their first Gen civics with a super wing and a cherry bomb...I really dont understand why they think their cars are fast..20 second 1/4 mile!

There are a few other guys who have started rollin' around this area with nearly stock Camrys who have been totally wasting the kiddies in their Civics and Accords with 4ft. wings and plastered in stickers.

It's a beautiful thing.

Amen to that!! Be true to yourself.

The sad part, however, is that rice burners have infiltrated the Camry community. Their mother's Camrys have fallen victim to the "ricercise" treatment, since such rice burners are high school kids who cannot afford to by their own car - invariably a $hitvic - to "ricercise".

Common characteristics of rice burners include:
- knowing nothing about the internal workings of cars
- knowing nothing about how and why mods work but wanting to spend their mom's hard-earned money on it
- throwing terms technical terms around without understanding what they mean
- unable to discern truth from fiction (especailly re HP increase claims) and generally highly gullable

So from the above, I submit my definition of the quintessential rice burner/ricer/rice boy (get ready, cuz this is pretty profound  ):

Unintelligent people doing unintelligent things to cars as a result of making misinformed or uninformed decisions, for the sake of improving performance, but with negliable or counterproductive results.

Jeff,

I know what you mean...Some of these guys think tinted windows and 12" three spoke rims add 50 horse power..

Funny!

yeah, kids like that make me laugh. I had a college kid that had a 90 4-cyc automatic mustang with no options call my now sold '88 Porsche 944 "cheap". I almost punched him in the face.
He now has an '01 Civic that he's completely riced out- wing, tinted window, big dumb chrome rims, and stickers galore. Dork...
