any recent brake job/suspension? (could be a sign of worn abs sensors).

The ABS light went on for my 92 LE I4. The shop said 2 ABS sensors were bad and it cost something like $400! I hope that is not your problem though and that it will be an easy fix.

Hey paradizecityz, I had a similar thing happen. Took my car into Sears to get new struts put on and afterwards the ABS light was on. Had to take it to a Toyota dealer and it was $60 just to hook it up to the computer. It was the R rear sensor which they replaced. Sears paid me back since it was their screw up but I probably won't go back there. I bet the same thing happened to you. I've read that the sensor is very sensitive and you have to be very careful when replacing the struts or else.

Same thing happened to me, and the guys said the same thing about the braking. Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that sensor they said they took out and put back in had been damaged. I took my car to the dealer and they told me that it was my right rear speed sensor and that it went bad and had to be replaced. Well that was going to be around $400.00 to fix so I just took out the bulb in the dash that lit up the warning ligh and was done with that. If you think about it how many time do you use your ABS? Yes it's nice to have but... So the "hit your brakes acouple of times" is crap these are digital sensors not somthing that needs to be throwen back into alignment. Your brakes and everything are fine but the sensor is damaged and will not engage the ABS. So if you are not worried about it just remove the bulb or get it fixed at the dealer. Also I looked into it, you really cannot do the fix yourself only because it would be alittle cheaper if you did it yourself and if you are like me I would rather have a dealer do that kind of stuff. Hope this had helped you

WARNING: When getting spring/struts installed, be sure to let your mechanic know that your abs line WILL break if they dont support the axle, arm, thingy before removing the struts. If you're doing the install yourself, put a jack under the arm before removing the struts.

Doing so will save you 2-3 bills on replacing the abs sensor.

slosh i think this applies to you two...I'm guessing you two didn't indicate the same to your mechanics.
