i dont know what that part is really called i think its a strut mount. its where your strut tower bar goes into. Well those 2 mountings with 3 bolts each.
Well i was going to remove my alarm which was connected to the strut by the old owner. When i went to loosen the bolt i found it very very hard to budge. Turns out that the SOB welded the bolts on to the frame of the car!!! I'm very pissed about this. I mean now i can't remove my alarm or install a strut bar. let alone change my struts unless i have to un-weld it off. Is that my own way of going about it. I figure i need someone to torch if off. Is this common for people do to or just the old owner of the car is a dumbass? How should i go about it ? Let me know if you guys need more information about this.
i'll call the owner a dumb ass. well your going to need a good set of wrenches and a torch ... provided the guy did it that way not with a welder (meg, tig, whatever). or your gona have to cut down the bolt much as you can and then grind it down to the surface and replace the strut mount.

how much money are we looking at roughly if i get done at a store.
you think i can tell go to a store that changes struts and by struts have them install it for like 100$ you think they would cover the unwelding portion ?
well its more like where the bolt touches the frame of the car. He did a pretty nice and even job on it because i can't see it unless i look really closely. I was thinking some shops might include the removal of the weld as well. I'm hoping on this. would this be like 50$ of labor just to tourch it off of the car ?
get a real braker bar (not a ratchet with a pipe) then snap the weld or the socket ... also get a craftsman socket so that way if you brake it you get a new one

well, when i first saw it i wasn't sure what it was so i didn't apply force really but then i somewhat tried didn't used full strength but a good amount was placed on there like the strength to push a car in Neutral. I don't really feel like trying untill i get come confirmation for someone.
i cant believe someone would WELD those on the car... are you absolutely positive its welded and not just rusted on there???
i remember installing my suspension, those were some of the hardest bolts to break through the rust... just get yourself a 3' breaker bar. i think you might be mistaken on it actually being welded (my guess is its just rusted)- could you provide a good picture of what you are talking about?
also- these bolts are supposed to be ON THERE... so dont expect it to be easy! you are going to need some beefy tools.

all depends on the lenght of the pipe, nothing has stood up to my 4ft pipe, and yes, get a craftsman or mastercraft ratchet/socket
