Anyone ever try to switch out the power window switches from a es300 to a camry so that you can get auto up/down. Hopefully it's that easy. I also want to try and switch out my moonroof opener with one from a solara or es300 that closes by itself and you don't have to hold the button down. That is so annoying to me.
camrys come with auto down power windows. the gen 3 had it, so does my solara and the gen 5. only driver window tho, would be nice for passenger as well. i like the auto sunroof a lot, 1 touch and its open\closed\tilted
oh shit ALI G. I love that show. Anyways yeah I'm lazy. I want my car to have everything a lexus has. It's an xle so it's a good start. I just added an auto dimming mirrow with a compass, I like it alot.
I couldn't see anything external in the wd, you could try swapping switches in the master panel as a simple test.
Sounds like a good idea.
Do you have to remove the door panel to get at it?

Im going to try this. I'll pick one up at a junk yard and see if it works. *crossing fingers*
might want to check if there is a computer for that or if it is in the circuitry of the switch panel itself. you work at toyota, ask a tech to check in the electrical manuals for the lex
I investigated this a while back looking at the GS300. The auto up only functions because of the safety features built into the windows. If you apply pressure on them for X seconds they roll back down as it's assumed that something (or someone) was stuck in the window. The sunroof does the same thing. Now, as far as I know of (in my Gen3) the windows don't have this safety feature as you can't roll them auto up. The Gen 4+'s may have it, and make the switch swaps easy and legal. But I'm not sure.
So, technically, you can hack switches in to make them do this, however in doing so it's illegal because you're bypassing the safety mechanisms. (I believe)
