Well, I've run into some fun problems while doing a brake upgrade on my Gen2 (1991) Camry LE V6. Was putting new pads/rotors on and kinda wanted to find out why I had no hydraulic pressure as well.... seemed the brake master cylinder was hosed. Well, while on my way back from the parts store (after finding out they couldn't have parts for one until Thursday, ugh), the water pump seized up and the car overheated about a mile from home. Got to push the car into the driveway, steam coming from under the hood....

So, the point is... should I even continue fixing up the car? I've wanted to have a good-looking fast Gen2 Camry for a while - while keeping the sleeper look - but I don't know if it's worth it. I know I'm overreacting, and it's all just an isolated incident, but.. I'm worried the current transmission is on it's last leg as well. I'd like to convert to a 5-speed with a fairly strong tranny so an engine swap would be possible, but I don't know the costs associated with this (and I'm not rich :wink

Any opinions or suggestions?

Sorry if I seem bitter, but I'm stuck driving my old car (89 dodge spirit on it's second engine, 255k miles on the odometer), and I miss driving a decent vehicle.

Thanks guys...

-Kam

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AND QUESTIONS!!!

first my engine.... then tranny... brakes.... the control arm... and so on... it got me so MAD.... i just wanted to throw this car in the junk yard.... but now i already spent around 2k on it.... but it's a Camry.... my first car..... i really love it... although ppl R saying i should change the car.... but i think there's no car out there that could be close to a Camry... it's BIG... powerful... sleeper look and can Turbo it..!!

now my only mods R the Celi Rims.... it just look VERY VERY good... and next mod will be the sounds... then lowered.... body kits... lastly Engine.... it's just a GREAT well made car....i hope you're feeling the same way as i do..... i do hope you'll keep your Gen2.... i know there's much better cars out there... but it's just not the same...

my 3 cents...

True, true. Thanks for the input.

I was just a little upset at my car, but I do plan on keeping it and fixing it up as best I can.

Gotta love the Camry...

your car looks great in your cardomain web page and you gotta a system beyond nice so why give up now? try dropping in another engine. try this place http://www.jemco.com/services.html
or toysport.com.
How many miles do you have on yours? My 91' wasn't taken good care of by the previous owner but I have yet to have major problems with it. Nopionline has a performance water pump for Tsuedo.

I'd say fix the rusted fenders first, Derek.

Thanks

I currently have about 84k miles on it, had 54k when I bought it. I'd eventually like to do a tranny and engine swap (3S-GTE, of course)... but that's when I have a little more cash-money

Totally. One of the reasons I wanted to fix it up (plus I have an attachment to the 'square car' body style - my first car was an 83 accord, looked kinda similar)
