Are hood pins necessary?

A co-worker just asked me this question and I wasnt sure how to answer this...

If I purchase a high quality carbon fiber hood...are hood pins necessary ?

yes...

the fact that the hood is much lighter, will increase the risk of the hood flying open, due to an insufficient latch...

hood pins shouldnt be recommended, but MANDATORY when buying any fiberglass/carbon fiber hood...

Does anyone know if Drew installed his hood pins yet? Cuz wasn't he driving around without 'em for a lil while?

IIRC, he got them in a while ago.
He drove around for a couple days because he was having trouble with the latch.

just to straigthen this out, i never was brave enuff to drive without pins,i just test fitted it and took pics
