So yesterday I'm was leaving for work in the morning, and seeing as how I live in SA. Texas I went to turn on my ac. Well I switched my Gen 3's system over to defrost the front window real quick, and when I switched back to full upper AC vents....the system clicked over, but the middle two vents locked up or something. I have air comming out of the outside vents, but the inside vents do not work? I cycled through the seperate controls, and everything else works, but alas....no matter what the center two vents do not click over. I was hoping to get some advice on this if anyone has had this problem before, before I go out and dismantle the front to find the problem. Any takers?

And on a second note....does anyone have any idea on a difficulty for replacing the Driver side Front CV Joint BOOT? I was replacing my breaks this weekend and I noticed there was tear in the boot which is allowing my grease to be slung out into the wheel well.

as far as the a/c... i would say its stuck in defrost position. or somehow the main unit behind the radio is messed up...

as far as the cv joint goes... check this guide out...

its just about the same for drivers side, except you need to pull out the whole axle and you dont have to worry about allen bolts or anything... make sure you have a pan under the tranny, cause its gonna leak when you pull the axle out.

get a new axle seal and throw that in while you are at it, cause those go bad, and its easy to change when you have the thing out already...

Yea, the CV joint was just replaced about a year ago when I also had the transmission replaced. The only problem I've got is with the rubber boot that covers the bearings right next to the wheel. I was hoping for an easy fix like dismantling the section there, and just removing the old boot, and strapping on a new boot? Is that possible, or do I have to replace the entire unit?

Hey Troyfreze. I just found this place today and was able to fix another problem with my 93 Camry. So I thought what the hell. I would go ahead and attempt to resolve my issue with the middle air ducts/vents(same problem as yours), that I have been putting off for over a year now due to repair estimates. Anyway, I was under the driver side looking around and to my left, (head looking up at steering column), I saw the motor and linkage assembly for the air duct control. I found that the linkage/bar, from the motor led to nowhere. I grabbed a mirror and flashlight and looked up and over slightly to the right of that motor/linkage assembly and found the white plastic vent controller. I couldn't manage to re-attach the bar into that plastic piece because I believe it it now broken, so what I did was to manually, with my finger, move the vent controller arm to the open position. Now my middle vents stay on all the time but at least it works and I definitely need those ducts working in the summer months. Just a temporary fix for ya. Good luck. BTW, the other selections work fine with this temp fix.

Yea, that was actually the same thing I ended up having to do, the arm linkage was broken off so I just pushed it up and left it there. Maybe when I take off the dash one day to replace it I will repair the arm, but untill then It works fine for me!
