This may sound stupid, but is the Gen3 5s-fe a SOHC or a DOHC? I'm pretty sure mine is a sohc, but other gen3's i have seen say dohc on it. Also, the TTCC page says that the gen3 is a dohc. My question is, are some of the years sohc, and others dohc?

What is the difference between Four Cam like is says on my plastic engine cover and Dual overhead cam. Is my 95 SE a DOHC or what?

Thanks a lot.

Yes your engine is a DOHC just like the 3vzfe and 5sfe.

Since you have a V6 your engine has 4 cams. 2 cams on each bank of cylinders.

Dual overhead cam (DOHC) refers to a cylinder head with 2 cams (dual) that sit on top of the head (overhead).

Yeah the 5sfe is 92-02 Camrys....my moms got a 02 camry with a 5sfe sittin' in the garage. The 5sfe is also in the celica gt and gt-s from 91-99 (i could be wrong on those years, but im pretty sure)

dohc = dual overhead cam

sfe = part of a engine code

Example: 5S-FE

5S = 5th gen S block. S is also the engine family.

F = narrow valve angle (around 22 degrees).

E = efi (electronic fuel injection)

Not without switching to a MR2 head because unlike the MR2 the 5S-FE has one cam gear controlling both camshafts.
