Wierd Idle Problem

I searched but couldn't find much.

In the mornings, the car (93 LE 5SFE) only idles at 450-500 RPM. It usually idles at 750-800 RPM. It happened twice last week and this morning. I haven't moved the car since late Saturday night and finally turned it on Monday morning (today). As soon as I give it a little gas, it's fine.

I'm wondering if this could be forshadowing something greater or it just needs the tune-up that I've put off for two weeks? Has any one else has similar issues? All the problems I saw were the motor revving too high but then idling at normal speeds.

Mine does it on occasion too, (95 LE 5sFE) as long as your engine isn't stalling it' s okay-my mechanic said it was fine-he says about the 500 range is normal. A tune up might help your car, but if it isn't stalling I wouldn' worry.

and 2wickedtoys beat me to it... a new fuel filter might help!

500 RPM is fine? Hmmm that sounds a little iffy to me. The Haynes manuel says 750 RPM.

Planned tune up for this weekend:
Fuel Filter
Oil
Oil Filters
Plugs
Air Freshener

search this site for : cleanning the air intake control valve (AIC). This valve controls the air intake during idle. Some time is sticky . Good luck
