I seen this topic get lightly touched on in a thread before...
What jspec parts would it take to make my north american 96 xle v6 and make it AWD like the Jspec camry?
money is not part of my question.... its something that I havent seen anyone do but its possible because the jspec cam is AWD is it not? it would be worth checking out and deffinately a good and unique long term camry project.
I would cost in the range of $10k with labor if you were to order the parts by yourself.
It's almost not worth it unless you have a low miles engine, or plan on rebuilding your current engine. Otherwise you are looking at dropping a lot of time and money into it for only a short time of fun.
A little while back we(Sportivo Concepts) posted about selling a AWD conversion. But people ragged it so bad and no one was really willing to put the money into it. So we decided not to offer it.

IIRC, all the AWD JDM Gen3 Equivalents were all 4 cyl or diesel. I don't think they offered the ES300/Windom with an AWD variant (edit) which means you'd have to find a JDM Gen 4 with AWD V6 and custom fabricate it into your gen 3, and $10k would be a bargain price for that.
Although AWD would be just godly, Personally I think Camrys (well... coupes at least) looks like they should be RWD... that would be so awsome... brb... need to change my shorts

The fabrication isn't too bad. The chassis is already built for it (i.e. 4Runner).
And $10k is a good deal. We were offering the kit for under that. We still are considering it, and looking to gauge interest. If anyone is serious about it, here's the link:
more than a awd kit a rwd would be much better..the awd would just add more weight than necessary imo.
with a rwd u could swap for some serious engines w/o worrying about the limitations of grip and horsepower u do with boosting fwd
if only we could fit 2jz's--ok too much money nvm

No 10k is pointless....you should have never thought of making that kit in the first place....Is SC built on hopes and dreams? i mean no one wants to spend 10k on there camry for it be able to make it launch faster...You would have to have some serious buyers and a lot money to start with....Seeing how you guys can't make a turbo kit i don't know how you guys can make a AWD kit also?
