Is this normal?

I have a I4 '93 Cam and when I'm in park and I turn my steering wheel, my rpm's go up about a notch or less. Is this normal? If not what is the cause?

never thought about that, but possibly....power steering's working hard to move your wheel while the car's not moving

since the car has a low idle, maybe the ecu uses the tranny to compensate so the car won't stutter..

yeah, its normal, the ecu kicks up the idle a little bit when it senses that ur turning the wheel (sees a pressure in the lines) so the engine doesnt bog down... you'll prolly notice the same thing if the car's idling and u turn the a/c on and off... anyway, there's your long boring explanation...
