Smile Please Help 99 Camry

I have a 99 Camry w/ 65K Miles. After taking it on a long drive last weekend, the accelerator became stuck on several occasions. The speed didn't increase though. I had to step on the accelerator extremely hard to get it to work again.

Why did this happen? Does anyone know the remedy?

Please help?

all i can think of is maybe get up underneath your dash where the pedals are with some wd-40 or some kind of grease spray and spray all the pivot points... sounds like something may have bound up in there...hope that helps

That's pretty dangerous. As emerald suggested, something you can do yourself is check to make the moving parts related to the pedal are lubed. While your down there, make sure there's nothing snagging the pedal (ie. floor mats, garbage...).

If you can't find the problem yourself, I highly recommend you have a mechanic take a look at it. It could be carbon buildup in the throttle body, corrosion, kinked cable.
