Leaking engine coolant?why?

My camry is leaking engine coolant from the engine. Not from the radiator or any of the hoses, but from the engine. Its a 3SFE and i was wondering if somebody knew what it could be? If any of you are familiar with this, or have had this happen to them, its leaking from an area right under the alternator. I called up my mechanic and he said it's probably the water pump but i wanted to get another opinion on here. thanks guys

I had the same problem. It was the water pump. Replaced it, fixed.

Do you hear a "Boiling Water" noise when your car is on? It should be audible more inside the car than outside. If yes then its DEFFINETLY the water pump.

Also, depends on how recently you changed your timing belt, its a good idea to do that at the same time you're removing the water pump. The disassembly of the water pump requires its removal.
