Just wondering if anyone out there with a gen 5 camry ever tried to take out the shifter. I've tried several ways but I just can't seem to get it out. If anyone can help me with this, please post or email me at jaspher.salvacruz@rogers.com
thank you.......

Here's some pics of Gen3 shifter assemblies. It should be virtually identical for the Gen5. It basically involves removing alot of trim pcs that surround the shifter and unbolting a few screws.

These pics should give you some idea of what's involved;

The shifter knob should be held in place by screws located on the front of the knob (side facing the front of the car.) Use an allen key to unscrew them. Caution, be careful not to drop the screws and lose them.
I could be completly wrong though. I've never really tried this on a Gen5.

There were no visible screws on the shift knob. First time I've seen something like this. The earlier model toyota's had a small rubber piece that can come of which had an allen type screw inside. This one is totally different. There's a small plastic cover on the side where the shifter/overdrive button is located. No screw inside though. I really appreciate the help. Thanks.

I also have a gen5 camry, and I plan on adding a OEM shifter. it's one with aoverdrive button. Have you removed your shifter? Have you heard anything? What's should I expect?
